Chalkstone Racing's Successful Tattersalls Online Purchases (2026)

Chalkstone Racing has made a splash at the Tattersalls Online July Sale, acquiring two promising horses for their newly established operation in Malton. The first acquisition is Suspicious Mindz, a three-year-old son of Bated Breath, who boasts a Timeform rating of 88 and is a half-brother to the G2 Norfolk Stakes winner The Ridler. This purchase showcases Chalkstone Racing's strategic eye for value, as Suspicious Mindz was consigned by Jessica Harrington's Commonstown Stables and sold for 50,000gns. The second addition is Great Dream, a three-year-old Invincibie Spirit horse who recently scored a 11-length victory at Ffos Las. Bought for 30,000gns from William Haggas' Somerville Lodge, Great Dream demonstrates the stable's ability to secure quality horses with demonstrated potential.

What makes these purchases particularly intriguing is the stable's long-term vision. Stuart McFarlane, a representative of Chalkstone Racing, expressed their excitement about the acquisitions, emphasizing their potential for progress and competition in valuable races. The stable's strategy seems to be a blend of short-term gains and long-term planning, with a focus on securing quality horses in training.

Chalkstone Racing's success at the Tattersalls Online July Sale extends beyond these two horses. They also acquired a yearling filly from the first crop of Ace Impact, a G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner, for 42,000gns. This filly, consigned by Haras de Beaumont, is out of the G3 Prix d'Aumale winner Shahah and is a half-sister to four winners, including the Listed-placed Ursuly. The stable's interest in broodmares is further evidenced by their purchase of Comply, a three-year-old broodmare in foal to Little Big Bear, for 39,000gns. Comply herself is out of the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes heroine Rosdhu Queen, adding to the stable's broodmare band.

The Tattersalls Online July Sale, which realized a turnover of 439,300gns for 47 lots sold at an average price of 9,347gns, showcased the stable's success in acquiring quality horses. With their strategic purchases, Chalkstone Racing has demonstrated their ability to identify promising horses with potential, both in the short and long term. The stable's future endeavors will be intriguing to follow, as they continue to build their operation in Malton and secure their place in the competitive world of thoroughbred racing.
